Assignment #6 White Balance - Mini Assignment

  • This assignment was to use Auto.White.Balance (AWB) as the 1st picture inside and outside, then use the lighting that fitted the environment as the 2nd photo. As for the 3rd photo we were to take a picture using a pre-set white balance of choice.

White Balance (left to right) Auto, Tungsten, Flouresant

This is my indoor set of photos I took. I noticed a slight difference between the AWB and the rooms actual white balance being flouresant. Flouresant lighting showed the white through the lense to be more closer to the natural colour of the object itself. As for Tungsten it is obviously the farthest away from the original, with a blue tint.

White Balance (left to right): Auto, Sunny, Tungsten
This is my outside set of photos where

This is my outdoor set of photos in the front of school where I captured the animals and old school telephone leaving the building. Yes! They have officially "left the building".. Haha
It was kinda sunny outside with a little bit of clouds which is why i could see the AWB working but the pre-set Sunny option worked best of course because that was the environment. Then there is the tungsten again that has the tint of blue which kinda makes it feel alot more cloudy but on the other hand the farm animals and phone are white original, not blue...
As a side note... imagine: walking around
in the public eye with a little telephone attatched
to a string (that is as old as maybe 45 years of age)
provided from my awesome focus teacher
and two farm animals courtesy of
another one of my awesome teachers!
Oh if looks could kill haha,
people these days are alot more crazier
than I looked on this day so give me a break,
 im just taking photos!  :D

Assignment #5 Exposure Value

This is my favorite set out of the one other white balance photos i took and the failed dark exposure photos. I noticed this one in particular worked out the best because the white pyramid lamp i placed beside the light window curtains with obviously the natural light from outside, allowed it to show up clear even with a darker exposure value.

As for my second set of photos... I was not as pleased with this compared to the last , I think because the little goose figurine (courtesy of the mini farm in the open area) that I placed behind the plant did not allow direct light so the colour was off. The little goose did a great job as the subject but I on the other hand did not do well at capturing its true potential lol :P Maybe next time Goose!

Stereotypes assignment

Stereotypes in Magazine Ads (internet) Assignment.

1.
2. This ad i found is advertising a product called "Handi Wrap". in this picture it is the woman using this product to wrap multiple sandwiches, assuming they would be in the kitchen.. while her husband stands behind her and watches but does not seem to be helping.

Ideally society these days would be aruguing both woman and men should be in the kitchen and playing even roles for the most part, while others in society might still be heavily stuck in the past... get over it to those who disagree with my first statement! this is 2013 :D

3.As a female I can relate to this stereotype because you still hear people, generally naive men or teens continuing to use this stereotype as if they have been living under a rock all these years. This sterotype sadly still exists in the social media, which is why it makes this relateable. When I am older I vow not to do all of the cooking/cleaning.

This advertisment meets the stereotype of the woman being in the kitchen making sandwiches or in general doing to food preparation, while the male does nothing or heads to work etc.

1.

2. This ad shows a woman laying on the floor "where she belongs". After read the review from the site i got this from, it portrays the idea that woman and men are at very different social classes and that whoever made this ad wanted to show the male role as the dominant role.

The idea created from this ad is the idea that back then woman were shown as being at a lower social stature in society and being lower than the male.

3. I as a female relate to this because, like the last photo it objectifies women by making us (women) seen as being on a lesser stature in society, below men.

This stereotype is recognizable because the woman is on the floor where her apparent "place" is.

to the men who adhere to this ad and accept it... Get over yourselves!
